Chinese New Year is just around the corner and while you’re busy cleaning and decorating the house, as well as preparing goodies for the festival, do not forget or neglect your body and skin. It’s even easier to put on weight during the festive season so pay attention to what you eat starting now and continue with your daily exercise. Your skin could also get tired easily, making your complexion dull. You don’t want this when you want to look your best during gatherings with family and friends so here we have compiled a to-do list to help you stay fit and gorgeous this Chinese New Year.

Drink, drink, drink

By drink, we mean water of course! There’s no better way to stay hydrated than drinking plenty of water, especially when the weather gets hotter and the humidity goes up. Try your best to drink at least 8 glasses of water per day, and by all means avoid sugary drinks because they contain added sugar, which easily contributes to weight gain. Turn them down at every occasion by politely saying, “Thanks, but water would be just fine!”.

Less meat and more veggies

It’s no doubt the season of food indulgence but you can still feast without doing too much damage to your body and skin. The trick is to eat more veggies and avoid processed meats. Thinking of having steamboat? Opt for skinless chicken, lean meats, or fish fillets instead and add a bunch of different veggies, such as lettuce, mushrooms, choy sum, and bok choy.

Stay focused and enjoy

Just remember to keep up with your healthy routines and don’t go overboard. Plan your visits to relatives’ houses when you’ve had a proper meal so you won’t overindulge in unhealthy snacks. And speaking of snacks, freshly blended juices are the way to go when you crave for something sweet and healthy. They are also packed with nutrients that are beneficial to your body and skin, keeping them in tip-top condition.
